What this is

The Tappa Toolbox is a free collection of technical calculators for Australian plumbing and drainage work. The tools cover gas line sizing, backflow hazard assessment, drain sizing, stormwater sizing, hot water selection, TMV compliance, and job margin. They are provided by Tappa Pty Ltd (ABN pending), trading as Tappa.

These tools are guides — not professional advice

Every output from these tools is for guidance only. The calculations are based on published Australian standards and manufacturer data, but:

• Standards change. We aim to keep data current, but we make no guarantee that any reference reflects the latest published version of a standard.
• Conditions vary. No calculator can account for every site condition, local authority requirement, or job-specific factor.
• Errors happen. Despite care in building and checking this data, mistakes are possible.

All outputs must be verified by a licensed plumber against actual site conditions, manufacturer specifications, and the current edition of the relevant standard before any work is carried out or any quote is issued.

You're the plumber

These tools are designed for use by licensed plumbers and gas fitters. If you act on any output from these tools, you accept sole responsibility for verifying that output against the relevant standards, your licence conditions, and your state or territory regulator's requirements.

Tappa does not provide engineering advice, plumbing certification, or compliance services. Nothing in any tool output constitutes a compliance certificate or professional endorsement.

No warranty

To the maximum extent permitted by law, the Tappa Toolbox is provided “as is” without any warranty — express or implied — including warranties of accuracy, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement.

We do not warrant that the tools will be available continuously, free from errors, or that any error will be corrected.

Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by Australian Consumer Law, Tappa Pty Ltd and its directors, employees, and contractors will not be liable for any loss or damage — direct, indirect, consequential, or otherwise — arising from your use of or reliance on these tools. This includes but is not limited to: incorrect pipe sizing, incorrect hazard assessment, incorrect device selection, failed inspections, rework costs, or fines.

Nothing in these terms limits rights that cannot be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law.

Intellectual property

The Tappa Toolbox — including its code, design, copy, data models, and calculation logic — is owned by Tappa Pty Ltd. You may use the tools freely for your own work. You may not copy, republish, resell, or build a competing product using our content or code without our written permission.

Standards tables and appliance data are derived from publicly available standards and manufacturer publications. Where those sources have their own copyright, we acknowledge that copyright.

Changes

We may update these tools, change the data, or withdraw a tool at any time without notice. We may also update these terms. Continued use of the tools after a change constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of Victoria, Australia. Any disputes are subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Victoria.
